Marion County Aquaholics Paddlers Group
5TH Paddlers Poker Run

This was the 5Th Poker Run that was held by the Marion County Aquaholics Paddlers on May 15, 2004. The beginning was at Gores' Landing,( No. 1 on the map), and would be ending at the Ocklawaha Canoe Outpost and Resort in Eureka, Fl.(No. 7 on the map) It was a beautiful morning. This year the benefit was for The Environmental Advocates - All creatures Sanctuary. They are a non-profit organization that receives no funds from state, gov, or anyone. They depend on donations and volunteers to help care for the injured wildlife of Marion County.(The map of the trip is located at bottom of page.)

As you can see, everyone is picking up their first card and are getting ready for the event to begin.

We finally started out about 10:00 am. Our daughter, Dawn, came with us. This was her first poker run, and she didn't really know what to expect. About half way to our 2nd stop, an owl was spotted around the bend landing in the trees. He seemed curious about all the traffic on the river that day.

Stopping for 2nd card.
