It is a very beautiful area. The water can be on the shallow side in spots so you have to keep a look out for rocks. There seems to be an infinite number of islands as you are paddling about.

If you keep paddling north around the coastline you will come across Fort Island Beach. It's only about 2 miles up. To the west you can see the Gulf between the islands

The water is suprisingly clear here. On the bottom you could see the rocks and grasses. You could even see the fish swimming under you. You can see a few dolphins swimming about. The area is dotted with small islands and bars covered with mangroves. There are birds about and you may even come across a birds nest nestled in the branches.

You may decide to paddle out to Sandy Hook. Its' a little under 2 miles from the putin. The boats in the area aren't bad. This seems mostly where the airboats like to come. You can feel the vibration right through the kayak. But they stay well away from you when they see you. It is very grassy around the islands. To the NE you can see the beach at Fort Island Beach.
